May Fourth Movement

Today is May 4.  The president of China visited Peking University in honor of the May Fourth Movement.  Everyone was so excited!  The gusts of wind from the previous night made the sky bluer, and the red banners, draped across many of the campus buildings even brighter.

All in honor of the1919 mass protest where thousands of Peking University students and others demanded a change in their country.  No longer would the China be ruled by emperors, warlords or corrupt traditional leaders.  Their demand was for decisions to be made based on science and democracy to strengthen their country.
