Empress CiXi , Dorothy and the Monkey Warrior

The Garden of Clear Ripples:  There once was an emperor whose mother wanted to see the beauty of both northern and southern style gardens of China without having to travel there. So, he built a sleeping palace for her with mountains, royal gardens, rivers, a marble boat and a lake so large that it takes several hours to walk around its banks, right in the middle of Beijing!

Location, location, location: the summer palace also served as the place where the royal family could handle the administrative affairs of the land close to where the people where.

As we exited the garden, the famous monkey warrior got me hoping if I, too, would be like Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz about to experience a world of adventures in my 30 days in China.
